My Background
Although having not followed the traditional art school path, I was always been painting and drawing as a child. Besides completing a Access Art and design foundation course, I hold a BA in Interior Design acquired in my youth from the University of the Arts London, which expanded my creative outlets formally the London college of Communication.
My creative journey is influenced by my love of nature, and the works of post-war artists like Kandinsky and Pollock. I have a diverse linage of Portuguese and Irish and I am UK born and of Barbadian parentage. I have been working for the Civil Service UKVI many years while juggling my passions.
Outside painting when I'm not creating, I enjoy teaching and mentoring others in the community, sharing my love for art, design.
By inspiring others I’ve held talks on William Morris and the Arts and crafts movement and community classes in Colliers Wood for interior disciplines and freehand sketching, primarily before COVID-19.
I also run a Design Facebook page for those interested in interiors and design mentoring. Above shows given talks hosted for the Victorian designer William Morris and the Arts and Crafts movement, with an exhibition in Streatham during the lockdown.
However, as free spirited and impulsive individual, painting enables me to escape monotony and relish in the extraordinary. The aura around my work is non-judgmental creating a space for everyone, no matter what the emotions stirred.
With my pieces, I aim to signify how from mediation we gather insight from our experiences, which allows us to arrive at our own personal conclusions.
